Spector Professional Edition (Spector Pro) is a premier surveillance tool that allows you to track everything happening on the computers in your home or office. As soon as you install it, Spector Pro begins recording activity - but it's so stealthy no one knows it is there. Return to the recorded computer to view the activity, or monitor the activity from another computer on your network. Powerful recording capabilities combined with easy-to-use viewing makes Spector Pro ideal for parents and small business owners.

Spector Pro 2010 build 5458 Review |
New version of Spector Pro supports Windows 7!
Advantages:
- Grouping of the intercepted information into categories
- Great stealthiness level
- Both sides interception in messengers
- Pleasant to look at, user friendly interface
- Emails sent/received monitoring
- Good file-activity monitoring
- System-inactivity time recording
- Good visual surveillance
Disadvantages:
- Not enough URL interception level
- A bulk of steps to follow during the pre-installation
- No clipboard interception
Today we are reviewing the first non-shareware monitoring product on our website – Spector Pro 2010 build 5458.
The process of installation is similar to the one we followed in eBlaster 2010: we agree to inform the user that he is being monitored, read and accept EULA, put in product serial number and e-mail address for registration, choose the type of installation (‘Standard’ or ‘Viewer Only’), choose hotkey combination, password and the type of installation (‘Visible’ or ‘Stealth’). After the product is installed we are asked whether we want to remove Spector Pro installation file or not, we choose ‘Yes’ and allow the program to restart PC on the next screen.
Information in Spector Pro menu is grouped into 11 categories: Screen Snapshots, Chat/IM Activity, Online Searches, Web Sites Visited, Email Activity, Files Transferred, Keystrokes Typed, Program Activity, User Activity, Document Tracking and Keywords Detection, each of which views the corresponding information. It is also possible to see Top 10 of Chat/IM Activity, Online Search, Web Sites Visited, Email Activity, Program Activity and Keywords Detected. All this in addition to a great number of filters makes viewing of intercepted information very comfortable.
The functionality of the program is on a very high level: the program is capable to intercept both sides of chat conversations, all the file activities except opening of the files (it logs all the applications run though), both incoming and outgoing messages, record user logging on and off and its inactivity time. Spector Pro also receives 37 of 42 points for implementing of all the functions from ‘Visual Surveillance’ section, except ‘Ability to choose between full screen and active window screenshots’.
As for ‘Parental Control’, ‘Filtering Options’ and ‘Security’ sections Spector Pro also shows great results – the program is hidden greatly, has both of the parental control functions implemented and almost all of the filtering ones, losing 2 points only for the ability to sort the log files by days, but not for the specified by user period of time.
As for the weaknesses of Spector Pro they are almost the same as in its sister-program eBlaster 2010, i.e.: inability to log clipboard content, logon password, mouse clicks and only one language available. In addition to this Spector Pro cannot be uninstalled automatically on a pre-specified date and has no log transferring options. The weaknesses are not essential, but they cost points, the lack of which moves Spector Pro to the third position in our chart.
Summing up we can say that Spector Pro 2010 is one of the most powerful products in our comparison table that is confirmed by its high position in our ranking. The product will come in handy for absolutely all of the users except those, who want to view their log-files remotely.
