Total Logger Review

Total Logger is an easy-to-use keylogger with a full set of functions you'll need for parental control. It supports Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10. The product is available in 6 languages. In our testing, it gets 769 out of possible 1172 points.

Advantages:
  • Easy interface
  • High level of Security.
  • Pre-configured installer that runs in stealth mode.
  • Rich functionality for dealing with reports
  • Programs' and websites' blocking

Disadvantages:
  • Doesn't record copying and opened files
  • Doesn't record mouse clicks
  • Doesn't log system inactivity time
  • Real-time Remote Viewing is not available.

When installing Total Logger, we passed through the following windows:
Installer Language (English, Spanish, German, French, Russian and Polish are available) → EULA → Destination Location (14.7 Mb free disk space) → Installation Type (Monitoring Agent and Report Viewer or just viewer) → Ready to Install → Finish.
The installation path by default: c:\program files\FKL
After Total Logger was installed, it asked us to protect this software with a password. We set the password, confirmed it and clicked OK button.
After this, the Log viewer window with a Warning message appeared. The message informed us that the version was a trial one, that's why monitoring was restricted to 30 minutes per day. In the menu bar we clicked Help → Registration and entered the license key into the box that appeared.
Monitoring starts without reloading the program. Sру agent (emsvc.exe) appears in the services, its name is the same as the name of a service from Microsoft. When Log viewer is closed, a message appears that prompts how to open this window using hotkeys Ctrl+Alt+Shift+U.

The interface of the keylogger is looks similar to most of programs of this type.
In the upper part of the window there is a menu bar; below are the icons for the following functions: Stop monitoring, Settings, Alerts, Import Reports, Build Installer, Uninstall, Help.
The main window is split into two sections: the left column and the main part. Left column parts, is divided into three sections, namely: Log, Notifications, and Analytics. The categories of intercepted information are displayed there.
In the main part, the list of events is displayed; each of them has a timestamp and a description. Below, when you press an event, intercepted data and detailed information about the event will be displayed.
A search field for searching in the intercepted information is also below the main part.

Now let's talk about the test results of Total Logger.
As for the OS Support, Total Logger runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10.

As for the security, Total Logger has the most of the functions typical for such programs, e.g. Password protection, Accessed by hotkey, Configurable warning message, Secured emails, Pre-configured Installation, etc. However, it doesn't have such functions as Accessed by keyword and Configurable self-removal.

As for the monitoring, Total Logger has most of the functions from this section, so we can consider this the strong point of the program. Although, there are a few buts. For example, the program will monitor file changes only in the folders the user has specified beforehand. Also, the developer doesn't recommend specifying system folders. Also, there is no monitoring System inactivity time, System logon\logoff, and Mouse clicks capturing.

As for the online monitoring, Total Logger can log users' activity in all popular browsers. It intercepts both sides of conversations in Skype, ICQ, WhatsApp and other messengers in the form of screenshots, which can be seen in Log → Instant Messengers. But Total Logger doesn't intercept Client-based emails. Also, you can't configure the program to make screenshots of visited web-sites.

As for the reports, Total Logger can deliver monitoring reports to your email address, FTP or Dropbox account, or to a shared folder in local network, but can't copy them to a portable device. Maximum log-files' size cannot be set. The following reports are generated: Most Used Application and Most Used Websites.

As for other functions: the program interface is available in many languages, which will help the product gain popularity with users from different countries. It is possible to block programs and websites by name, configure the Monitoring scheduler, and also configure Alert for a specific keyword. As for the functions this program lacks: it has no Real-time Remote Viewing and the program can't be accessed via the Android and iOS application.

Summing it up, we can say that Total Logger has enough features for home pc monitoring and parental control. It is pretty user-friendly and works fast. It's well hidden (its processes are disguised as system ones) and has an option of pre-configured the installer that runs in stealth mode. We had the experience of testing other keyloggers from IwantSoft Inc., so we can say with confidence that Total Logger has taken a serious step forward, and deserves attention of visitors of our site.
